Opening weekends for holiday plays

Just in time for Thanksgiving, the play Making God Laugh opens at the Montgomery Theater in Souderton.

Empty nesters welcome home their children over various family holidays spanning three decades. Parents and their grown children deal with each of their evolving adult lives, their dreams and unresolved issues. Old family traditions and dubious recipes are resurrected as tensions flare up and laughs break out during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s visits.

Based on the Jean Shepherd story and movie, the play A Christmas Story, opens on DeSales University Main Stage on November 28 and runs through December 9, 2012.

Little Ralphie Parker is obsessed with finding a Daisy Brand Red Ryder BB gun under the tree on Christmas morning. Neither bullies, frozen flagpoles, or a horrifying Macy’s Santa Claus can arrest Ralphie from his quest. Based upon the heartwarming motion picture, A Christmas Story is a holiday treat for the entire family that is sure to sell quickly.

And once more the Civic Theater in Allentown continues its tradition of staging A Christmas Carol, from November 30 – December 15, 2012. Tickets are $26 for adults, $23 for students, and $12 for under 12. Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. , Sundays at 2 p.m. Civic Theater, 19th Street, Allentown, PA
