Concerts, Carols and Comedy – this weekend and next

The Bach Choir of Bethlehem is performing Britten’s St Nicolas and Bach’s Magnificat with the Bel Canto Children’s Chorus tonight, December 8th, at 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 3231 West Tilghman, Allentown and at 4 p.m at First Presbyterian, 2344 Center Street, Bethlehem. Tickets are $30-$40.

On Sunday, December 9th, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sumneytown is hosting A Christmas Carol Singbeginning at 7 p.m. The Valley Arts Concert Series invites you to join in singing many of your favorite holiday hymns and songs. The Suite Brass and Shanay Johnson are the featured artists at this event. Refreshments will be served following the program. There is no ticket charge. A free will offering will be taken with proceeds given to Open Line’s Adopt A Family program. St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3104 Main Street, Sumneytown, PA.

Civic Theater, 527 N. 19th Street, Allentown is staging Dickens’ A Christmas Carol featuring a stage full of Londoners in period costumes, traditional Christmas carols, and an ending candlelight tableau that features snow falling on the entire cast. More than 100 people, including 60 children perform in this show. 2 p.m. and 7 p.m today, Saturday, December 8th and December 15th, 7 p.m. December 13 and 14.  Tickets are $25-$26, students and seniors $20-$23 and $12 for ages 12 and under.

Three actors attempt to tall multiple Christmas tales in as fast and funny a way as possible in Allentown Public Theater’s Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some). You’ll catch a glimpse of Linus, fruitcake, the Grinch, Scrooge, and George Bailey, among others. The curtain rises at 8 p.m. tonight and December 13, 14, 15, 20 and 22, and at 2 p.m. on December 23rd at Antonio Salemme Foundation, Suite 203, 542 W. Hamilton Street, Allentown. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. 888-895-5645.
