The Scottish Irish Musical Festival and Fair in Valley Forge starts tonight, and runs through Sunday. Closer to home, there are musicals to be seen on screen and on stage, starting with Les Miserables which is playing for yet another week at The Grand Theater on Main Street in East Greenville.
Quartet, a lovely movie featuring classical music, opera, and the fantastic Dame Maggie Smith, is currently playing at Rave Promenade in Saucon Valley.
The musical Oliver opens tonight at the Perkiomen School with a large cast made up of middle school and upper school students. Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Admission is free to the theater in Kehs Hall, Seminary Street, Pennsburg.
Meanwhile, you can find Cole Porter’s Anything Goes on stage at the Hill School in Pottstown, 7:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, at 860 Beech Street, Pottstown. Admission is free, but get there early as the theater fills up fast!
While trying to make up your mind, or maybe just before a show, consider stopping by Java Good Day Cafe and check out the artwork on the walls. The photographs and paintings will only be up for one more week before new works are installed. This is also your last chance if you’d like to bring home one of the pieces currently on display.
