Allentown’s Mayfair Festival of the Arts has moved from Cedar Beach (Hamilton Street) to the Allentown Fairgrounds (17th and Liberty Streets) this year. As a result, there is an indoor Artist Market and an indoor stage, along with the tents and stages, artist market, and food vendors that can be found outside on the fairgrounds. So rain or shine, you can have an amazing time. A new Gallery Space is set up inside the Agri-Plex annex with 30 Lehigh Valley artists exhibiting their work. There is also an experimental art exhibit where fifteen artists from near and far will be producing their art on site in the livestock pens behind the Agri-Plex. Barnaby Ruhe will spend the weekend creating a marathon mural painting.
Collectors Cafe Stage for performers such as singer-songwriters, classical musicians and even Italian John Carelli is inside. The KidSpace Stage will feature folk singers, dance performances, a ventriloquist, ballet theater, and more, at an outdoor stage. Bluegrass music can be found at the main stage tonight, while world music will be playing on the inside stage. Later in the weekend you’ll have a chance to hear classic rock, folk, country, Celtic music, songs from the American songbook and Broadway, and jazz, featuring local performers. Full schedule here.
Entrance fee is $5 for one day OR for all four days. Ages 10 and under, as well as active retired and reserve military (with ID) may enter for free. There is plenty of free parking at the fairgrounds, and the weekly farmer’s market will be open Friday and Saturday.
