On the road to Make Music Upper Perk 2014

Our first volunteer meeting for Make Music Upper Perk 2014 (MMUP2014) was held tonight at our favorite coffee shop, Java Good Day Cafe. We talked about last year’s events, new ideas for this year (and beyond), expanded volunteer opportunities (MMUP Blog Writer, “maestro of spontaneous fun,” and student coordinator, to name just a few), and important deadlines we have to meet to make this year’s MMUP all day free music festival even better than last year’s event.

Anyone and everyone interested in being involved can  sign up to volunteer now.

Anyone and everyone interested in making music on June 21st as part of MMUP2014 can register online today. Deadline for registration is April 30th in order to be listed on the printed program. Last year, over 100 musicians ranging from elementary students to an amateur banjo maker to professional musicians took part in the event. There were trumpets, dulcimers, a celtic harp, electric guitars, drums, a choir singing a cappella, a hymn sing, rock and roll, blues, banjo strumming, piano playing, violins, and original singer songwriters testing out their newest material. What would you like to do this year?

We plan on holding a Kickstarter fundraiser March 8 – April 12, 2014.

We want everyone to be a part of Make Music Upper Perk – whether you want to sing, play, tap your toes, clap in appreciation, put up flyers, wear the t-shirt, like us on Facebook, or tell your friends about the festival.

Check out photos from last year.

Make Music Upper Perk  is a free event, held on June 21st – the first day of summer, organized by volunteers, co-sponsored by ValleyArtScene, FAME (Families Advancing Music Education) and Grace Notes Piano Studio.
