This weekend’s top theater options

Other Desert Cities is on stage at the Civic Theater, 19th Street, Allentown this weekend through March 15, 2014.

The outstanding drama Clybourne Park is having its Lehigh Valley premiere at Lafayette College, 730 High Street, Easton, March 5-7 at 8 p.m.

Clybourne Park is fierce and funny, playwright Bruce Norris’s provocative response to Lorraine Hansberry’s landmark 1959 play, A Raisin in the Sun, spans half a century in urban American with a focus on race, real estate, and the volatile values of each. Winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize.

This is the final weekend to see the family show The Jungle Book at DCP Theater in Telford; Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Several nearby high school productions are running this weekend, including the following;

The 1985 Tony Award winning musical Big River, based on Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn, is the spring production at Catasasqua High School, 2500 W.Bullshead Road, Allen Township, March 6-8, 2014.

Also playing March 6-9, 2014 is the musical Footloose at Northwestern Lehigh High School, 6493 Route 309, New Tripoli. Online ticketing information can be found here.
