We had such fun reading the first installment of Shakespeare’s Star Wars, that when we found out Shakespeare’s Star Wars Part the Fifth: The Empire Striketh Back had been found and published, we knew we had to stage another public reading.
Join us on Sunday evening, May 4, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. at Java Good Day Cafe.
There will be a circle of half a dozen chairs and whoever wants to read out loud can choose one of those chairs. There will be additional seating for anyone who wants to read along silently, or just listen and enjoy the show. There will be breaks during which readers inside the circle can give up their seats to anyone outside of the circle who would like a turn to read out loud. Bring your own copy of the play, or buy one at Java that night.
Everyone is welcome. Shakespearean and Star Wars costumes are optional.
O, ’tis for the Rebellion a dark time.
For though they have the Death Star all destroy’d,
Imperi’l troops did from the ashes climb
And push the rebels closer to the void.
Across the galaxy pursu’d with speed,
The rebels flee th’Imperi’l Starfleet vast.
A group with Luke Skywalker in the lead
Hath to the ice world know as Hoth flown fast.
…In time so long ago begins our play,
In war-torn galaxy far, far away.
