Chalk the Walk in Emmaus

Bring your favorite colored chalk, or see what artists young and old can create with a little time, color and public sidewalk. For the 2nd year in a row, Emmaus Arts Commission is sponsoring Chalk the Walk at the Emmaus triangle on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 9 a.m. – noon (raindate Sunday, July 13). Because there is only so much sidewalk to go around, pre-registration is required and there is a $10 registration fee – If you are interested in participating and have any questions, contact Emmaus Arts Commission member Angela at 610-762-5694 or email info@chalkthewalk.net  Prizes will be given in various age groups; 5-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-18, and Adults over 19.

CTW is the Emmaus version of an Italian street painting festival, with artists—children and adults—surrounding downtown Triangle Park to showcase their original designs and colorful chalk illustrations.  Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success, drawing a large crowd of spectators who gathered to watch people of all ages showcasing their artistic talents.

Artists will be provided a limited amount of chalk, but we recommend that you bring your own chalk or pastels to add depth and color to your work.  Because CTW is a family event, please choose appropriate artwork.   All artists, from beginners to advanced, are invited to participate in this fun, creative, and one-of-a-kind event!

Saturday is also your last chance to check out and bid on these amazing one-of-a-kind rain barrels. Below are a few of the seven up for bid this year.

Final bids will be taken on Sat., July 12th at the EAC Chalk the Walk event on the Triangle (rain date July 13th).  Barrels will be awarded to the highest bidders at 11:00 a.m.  You need not be present to win, but upon being notified, you must make arrangements to pick up your barrel within 24 hours.
