Zydeco, Klingons, Knights, “The Scottish Play,” and more

Green Lane Park Summer Concert Series continues with creole/cajun music of Zydeco on Saturday, July 19th, 2014 starting at 7 p.m. at the Amphitheater at Green Lane Park, while Klingon Klezmer performs “good old-fashioned, heartwarming, rompin’, stompin’ fun-for-the-whole family klez/funk fusion from other planets” at this week’s Concert Sundae in Souderton, beginning at 7 p.m., at the Maurice W. Foulke Bandshell,  Souderton Park, located at Route 113 and Reliance Road. on July 20th,2014. Both concerts are free; bring your own lawn chairs.

Two musicals are on stage until the end of this month at Muhlenberg University; Gruff (a family musical with goats and puppets) and Monty Python’s Spamalot (lovingly ripped off from the classic movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail). Muhlenberg Summer Music Theater, Trexler Pavilion, 2400 Chew Street, Allentown, PA. Order tickets online or call 484-664-3333.

Macbeth, the Scottish play, opened at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival (PSF) on July 17th and runs through August 3, 2014. Women of Will, starring the play’s creator Tina Packer and last seen on Broadway earlier this year, which traces the chronological evolution of Shakespeare’s female characters and examines Shakespeare’s own journey as a writer, will run from July 20 – August 3, 2014 at the PSF before starting a national tour. If you feel the need for some comedy between July 9 and August 3rd, buy a ticket for Lend Me a Tenor, on the Main Stage at PSF. Theaters are in the  Labuda Center of the Performing Arts on the campus of DeSales University, 2755 Station Avenue, Center Valley, PA.
