Tortellini and Frankenstein

Two comedies take the stage starting tonight in Allentown.

The Crowded Kitchen Players are performing The Brothers Tortellini: a toga comedy, which runs from October 10 – 26 at Zion’s Reformed UCC, 620 W. Hamilton Street, Allentown. Tickets may be bought in advance or at the door. 610-395-7176

‘The Brothers Tortellini: A Toga Comedy’, is based on the classic Roman farce ‘The Brothers Menaechmi’, by Plautus, which was the source for Shakespeare’s “A Comedy of Errors,” “Richard Rodgers’ “The Boys From Syracuse,” and Larry Gelbart’s “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.”

Mel Brooks’ musical  Young Frankenstein has been transplanted from the movie screen to the stage by the cast and crew at Civic Theater, 19th Street, Allentown. Tickets for performances from October 10-26, 2014 may be bought online or at the door. 610-432-8943

Civic’s re-imagination of Mel Brooks’ monstrously funny musical will leave you in stitches. The grandson of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania, where with the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor, and a beautiful lab assistant, Inga, unexpectedly finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors.
