ArtsQuest in Bethlehem is hosting their first 48 Hour Cell Phone Film Festival in November. Students from Eastern Pennsylvania and Central/Western New Jersey are welcome to send submissions in the competition; limited to grades 7-12 and college students. The maximum film length is 5 minutes. You must register by October 24th. Submission guidelines and registration form are found here. The film showings will be broken up into the following categories: 7-9 grade, 10-12 grade, college.
The challenge will begin Nov. 6, 5 p.m., and the videos will be shown Nov. 8 (time to be announced) at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, as part of the Greater Lehigh Valley Filmmaker Festival, set for Nov. 6-8.Students may participate in groups of any size. Participants will be presented with both a prop and a line of dialogue at the start of the competition. The content of the films must be related to the dialogue, and the prop must be visible in at least one scene and specifically referenced by one of the characters. Films will be judged on overall artistic merit, as well as on creative use of the dialogue.Students must register at www.artsquest.org/film by Oct. 24 to participate. All footage must be captured using a cell phone camera; use of full-size video cameras is prohibited.
