Don’t forget about Community and College Theater

This is the last weekend to see The Foreigner at Pennsylvania Playhouse in Bethlehem and Court-Martial at Fort Devins at Steel River Playhouse in Pottstown, and the first weekend to see the Tony nominated musical [title of show] at Civic Theater in Allentown.

Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, decide to pen a musical for a theatre festival – even though deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. [title of show]—taken from the space on the festival’s application form which asks for the [title of show]—follows Hunter, Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression as they write and perform their show at the festival and learn lessons about themselves as people, friends and artists. A love letter to the musical theatre, [title of show] is a funny, sentimental, and joyously entertaining Tony nominated musical.

Four shows are opening at colleges in our area next week; The Miss Firecracker Contest appears onstage at Muhlenberg College (2400 Chew Street, Allentown), February 18 – 22, 2015, Dancing at Lughnasa – February 18-March 1, 2015 at DeSales University (2755 Station Avenue, Street, Center Valley), the stage comedy Dream Girl on February 18-21, 2015 at  Ursinus College (Collegeville), and Peter Pan Cedar Crest College  (100 College Drive, Allentown), February 19 & 20 at 7 p.m., February 21 at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., and February 22 at 2 p.m.

You can also see a musical play in Pennsburg  presented by Perkiomen School high school students, Lucky Stiff. Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 20 and 21st at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 2 p.m. Doors open half  an hour before curtain at Keh’s Hall, 200 Seminary Avenue, Pennsburg.
