Artist Amy Lyn Brand will be on hand for the opening of her newest exhibition, The Feed Me Project: On Breast Feeding and Motherhood, at the Upper Perkiomen Community Life Center, 104 Main Street, East Greenville, PA on Sunday, March 1, 2015. The opening reception of this interactive show of sculpture and text is free and open to the public from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. An Artist’s Talk will take place at 4 p.m.
While the work was originally spurred by personal experience, I made the decision early in its gestation to begin the project by asking questions rather than making assumptions about others’ perspectives, or demanding that others adhere to my own beliefs. As a result, many of my own opinions have changed, and what began as a collection intended to advocate breastfeeding has become a project which advocates women’s right to make their own choices regarding their bodies. It also advocates empathy and respect for all women, all mothers, all people, even when their choices are not our own.
Individuals and groups interested in viewing the show during the week should contact the artist via email; email@example.com
A closing reception, featuring live music by singer/songwriter Little Bear, is scheduled for Thursday March 5, 2015, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
