If you are in the mood for music, your only worry this weekend will be how to decide from the many choices.
Friday night, April 24th, the primary choices are between big band jazz and barbershop music; although you can fit in both, if you plan well. Muhlenberg Big Band Jazz Ensemble is scheduled to play just once this weekend, at a free concert beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, in the Empie Theater at the Baker Center for the Arts, 2400 Chew Street, Allentown. The Lansdale based North Penmen Barbershop Chorus will hold their spring show, Who Could Ask For Anything More?, at the Pennridge High School, 1228 N Fifth Street, Perkasie, on Friday, April 24th at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 25th at 2 p.m.
30 voices and 17 instrumentalists will join together for premiere performance of local composer Dan Tuck’s, “Mystical Poems,” which consists of poetry of Hildegard Von Bingen, Meister Eckhart and Julian of Norwich. The piece will be sung by local chorale group Vox Celestium and accompanied by local players in a chamber orchestra, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church (81 Main Street, Pennsburg) beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015. This public concert is not ticketed; a free will offering will be collected.
