Free Museum Admission and Festivals this Saturday

Museum Day Live, sponsored by the Smithsonian Museum, provides free admission to museums all around the United States on this one day of the year, Saturday, September 26, 2015, including the Allentown Art Museum and the Boyertown Museum of Historical Vehicles (our local Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Museum always offers free admission). For only a little time longer, you can see the awe inspiring wall sized photographs in the exhibit Above Zero: Photographs from the Polar Regions by Sam Krisch, the community art project Woven Welcome, and A Shared Legacy: Folk Art in America – all at the Allentown Art Museum, and all closing on October 11, 2015.

Green Lane Park (2298 Green Lane Road, Green Lane, PA)  the holding the 5th annual Upper Perk Bird and Wildlife Festival today, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Saturday, September 26, 2015), featuring live music, artworks, games, educational programs, environmental exhibits and vendors, crafts, a bird calling contest, and a live animal program from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. FREE


The Souderton Art Jam  is also today, also free, from 10 a.m – 5 p.m., at Soudertown Community Park, 31 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA (Reliance Road and Wile Avenue). There will be live music and food for sale, in addition to  the works of local artists and artisans on display and for sale.

And don’t forget about the Celtic Festival in Bethlehem, all weekend. This free festival features 5 stages of musical performances, multiple competitions including drum major competition, pipe band competition, Highland dance competition, fiddle competition, Celtic song writing competition, and, of course, a haggis eating competition, along with a craft tent, children activities, food and drink for sale, and more. The festival has expanded  from under the Hill to Hill Bridge and the Ice House on Sand Island, to Main Street in downtown historical Bethlehem; all within easy walking distance of each other. FREE on Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 11 p.m.; Sunday, 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
