Jump start the weekend with free music and art, Thursday night

Thursday, November 5th, is a good night to head up to Allentown for a free night of art and/or jazz.

The Allentown Art Museum offers free admission to all their exhibits on Thursday evenings from 4 p.m. – 8 pm. Tonight, you can join a free docent-guided tour of the photography exhibit Jeffrey Becom: Colors of India at 6 p.m. Other exhibits currently on display include Steve Tobin: Cocoon Awakenings;

See the first new glass pieces made by internationally renowned Quakertown-based artist Steve Tobin in twenty years. Exhibited in a darkened space, these illuminated sculptures cast colored light onto their surroundings, creating what Tobin calls “projection paintings” that transform our experience of the gallery space. They will be installed with earlier glass works from the artist’s Cocoons series, metaphoric vessels that suggest transformation from body to spirit.

The jazz plays from 8 p.m.to 10 p.m. at the Allentown Brew Works, 812 Hamilton Street. The performance by the Adam Niewood Homage Band will be free.

The Allentown JazzFest’s Center Stage FREE concert series will come to the High Gravity Lounge at the Allentown BrewWorks on Thursday, November 5th, at 8pm.  The performance by Adam Niewood’s “Homage” Band will be the first AJF event ever hosted at the Allentown BrewWorks.

For Reservations, call Allentown Brew Works sales office at 610-433-7777 x13

This performance will feature selections from Niewood’s latest Vectordisc recording Homage: Niewood Plays Niewoodon which Adam Niewood performs a collection of compositions by the late Gerry Niewood, Adam Niewood’s father.  Joining Adam Niewood for this concert will be Bill Washer (guitars), Gene Perla (bass) and Bill Goodwin (drums).
