Celebrate National Library Week this afternoon, Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the library where edible books depicting a fictional or non-fictional book or literary character will be on display from noon — 4:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for Best of Show Adult Book, Best of Show Young Adult Book, Best of Show Children’s Book, and People’s Choice.
If you don’t have time today and/or prefer your books made out of dead trees, there are two great used book sales taking place next week. The American Association of University Women – Bethlehem holds it 55th annual book sale at Bethlehem’s Memorial Pool building, 359 Illick’s Mill Road, Bethlehem, PA. According to the Morning Call, the sale includes more than 50,000 books, DVDs and CDs. It will cost you $20 to attend preview day is Thursday, April 20th from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., but will be free to enter on regular sale days; April 21 (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.), April 22 (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.), April 23 (half-price day, noon – 6 p.m.) and April 24, 2017 (9 a.m. – noon).
The Friends of the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library will be holding their spring used book sale starting this week as well, in the lower level of the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library, 350 Main Street, Red Hill, PA. Members of the Friends may attend preview night on Thursday, April 20th between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. (membership may be purchased that night for $10). Entry to the book sale is free and open to the public starting on Friday morning, April 21, 2017, during regular library hours. The sale continues through April 29, 2017.
